Why You Should Add Cellulite Reduction Exercises To an Aerobics and Exercise Routine at Home

Cellulite reduction exercises are often overlooked, a method of cellulite diminution treatment. Which is unfortunate because it is natural and has proven to be a very effective form of cellulite diminution treatment.

The fact is cellulite is not extra skin or any other obscure genetic defect, as it is often times described by marketers. Cellulite is pure body fat and that's the simple truth, so utilizing cellulite reduction exercises make more sense than any other method for cellulite diminution treatment at home.

The far-fetched ideas of special massage therapy techniques and magical cellulite diminution creams, are honestly just a waste of time. Time that women could be using to benefit from cellulite reduction exercises and treatment at home. There is a difference in other common aerobics exercise at home in comparison to cellulite focused exercises.

As these cellulite focused exercises have very little to do with weight lifting and exercise training machines. In stead these exercises focus on specific forms of body movement and very specific tempo and order. Cellulite affects women of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Even some of the most seemingly fit and athletic women are affected by the appearance of agonizing and embarrassment of cellulite.

This is because although they are well-fit and athletic, their cellulite is more than likely due to the lack of cellulite reduction exercises. One of the most common mistakes made by women who indulge in aerobics exercise at home or without a trainer, is using weight lifting and exercise machines for their lower body.

Why You Should Switch Up Your Aerobic Exercise Routine

Doing aerobic and cardio exercises such as running, stair climbing, aerobics, training with the elliptical machines etc is a great way to strengthen your cardiovascular and respiratory system. Apart from that such exercise is also great for losing weight because you can burn a lot of calories doing cardio exercises.

Now if your main goal of doing cardio exercise is to lose weight and burn calories, then I would suggest you to switch up your workout routine and don't just stick with one form of exercise.

You see, many people when they go to the gym, use the elliptical machine or the treadmill and started having great results by burning 800 calories. That's all fine and dandy for someone who had never done any exercise for a long time. However, if you have been doing the same workout over and over again for the past several months, your body will start to get used to it and you may not burn as many calories the first time around.

For instance, let's say you started running on the treadmill for 1 kilometer every day for 7 days a week. Let's say you are able to burn 100 calories the first week. But by the end of second week, you may only burn 90 calories instead of 100, losing 10% of the calories burnt. Then, maybe 80 calories the third week and so on. Get the point?

So, if you ask me, I would suggest switching up your workout routine and your body will not get used to just one thing and will work harder to burn calories. For example, do treadmill for a few days, and then switch to elliptical machines after a few days and then do some stair climbing after that. That way, it will prevent you from reaching plateau.

Should You Consider an Inexpensive Elliptical Machine?

As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". And that's no different with elliptical machines. If you're in the process of putting together a home gym, or simply considering what kind of exercise machine to purchase, you can't go wrong choosing an elliptical.

Problem is, they are quite expensive - over $2,000 for quality models. This is no question a lot of money. So it goes without saying, you should probably check your commitment level at the door if you're considering such an outlay on an exercise machine. After all, the majority of people who buy home workout equipment start with great intentions and have a goal of losing X number of pounds, but few follow through.

Now that I've got my warning out of the way, if you've decided your commitment level is high enough to purchase an elliptical trainer for your home gym (or to put in a spare room), you probably shouldn't consider investing in the cheaper variety, under $1000. They simply don't hold water compared to the medium to higher end machines.

Cheap ellipticals can wobble from side to side after a certain amount of usage, and may even start to make noise after a few months of regular use. If you're considering a lower-tier model, I suggest varying your workouts and throw in a few different types of workouts a few days a week. Not only will this prevent a weight loss plateau, it will preserve your elliptical and slightly extend it's life.

What can you do if you simply don't have $2,000+ to invest right now? The above suggestion of buying a cheap elliptical and trying to preserve it by using a few different machines or types of exercise would be a good suggestion. A cheaper model can also be used as a "test" just to ensure you'll even use it regularly. Lastly, you may even consider waiting to make your purchase a later date and saving your money for a mid to high end model down the road.

After using a model under the $1,000 level, you'll certainly come to appreciate the work involved in manufacturing a higher quality machine. And at that point, deciding to part with a little more money will be a lot easier.

The Only 2 Times You Should Ever Do Aerobic Exercise

Aerobics (long, steady state sub-maximal cardio) aren't much good for many health or fat loss related benefits. I've already done a post on why aerobics suck for fat loss. And then I went over the health benefits of interval training versus steady-state aerobics in my interval training for fat loss article.

But I have to admit aerobic exercise has its place. It can be a useful tool in eliminating stubborn body fat in the areas guys get it most (the abs) and women (butt, hips and thighs)... But... only if you do it on one of these two occasions (and I'll explain why too!):

Time #1 You Should Do Aerobics: After Interval Training

First let's look at what intervals and aerobics do in your body...

Steady state target heart rate cardio (aerobics). Uses fat for energy, but the problem is it takes a long time to exercise for the body to start using fat as fuel for this type of cardio.

High intensity interval training. Burns glycogen and releases fatty acids into the blood stream, but it doesn't use those fatty acids for energy, which means they get redeposited into the fat cells.

Here's how you get the both of best worlds:

1. Do your 12 minutes or less of interval training
2. Wait 5 minutes
3. Do 20 (maximum 30) minutes of steady state cardio (aerobics)

When you do it this way, the HIIT followed by 5 minutes rest guarantees a large release of fatty acids into the blood stream, which means you're guaranteed to be burning fat as fuel when you do your aerobics! Neat huh?

Time #2 You Should Do Aerobics: After Weight Lifting

Intense weight lifting is very similar to Height Intensity Interval Training in the effects that it has on your body, the fuel it uses, etc. So the only other time you should do aerobic cardio is after your weight lifting.

I recommend 20-30 mins of low-medium intensity steady state cardio after weight lifting.

Why You Should Know This

CNS overload: If you're lifting intensely, focusing on strength, doing low reps with heavy weights 3x per week, you're working your central nervous system to increase your strength (primarily). Interval training on your "off" days may be overload for some people, steady state aerobics after weights is a good option if that's you.

Stubborn fat: If you're already around 10-12% body fat (guys) or 15-17% bf (women) and you need to get SUPER ripped, then you should employ the HIIT followed with aerobics in this case. It will help strip away those last stubborn pounds.
